History reveals that  Mambourg  was already famous for its wines in early 783. The wines of "Sigoltesberg" (the present-day Mambourg) were already celebrated. Many convents and the nobility owned vineyards here and made the famous.

Situated in Sigolsheim, clayey-calcareous soil, south exposed, steep slopes, it is one of the most advanced Grand Cru in Alsace.
